Museum has wonderful inner courtyard. The indoor exhibition is also quite nice but after fourth board with historical details of Chiang Mai I felt a bit overwhelmed. Museum devoted to Lanna's people is a good idea and is for sure worth to see it, especially if you are in history, but for me it was too much. I also think they should work on the archaeological part of exhibition, because the old walls aren't protected in a good way.

The centre is informative and worth a visit for those that are interested in how Chiang Mai came to be. This is one of three museums on the site. The exhibits are dated. The info plaques in brass are very difficult to read but the newer information panels are good. I would have spent more time but other commitments forced me to cut short my visit

Cool

Too much text-based & a lack of explanations/labeling on the displayed artifacts. The archaeological site 1&2 can be presented better. I liked the photo wall toward the end the most. I'd recommend only if you want to cool down a little bit after exploring the old city and don't mind spending 90 baht....

Very interesting museum. Not very big. But if you take a guide you'll spend about 1.5 hour. I was there in August. I paid only 90 baht, for an English speaking guide who told me a lot of interesting things about the history of Lanna Kingdom and Chiang Mai. She answered all my questions and was very helpful. I recommend this place to those who want to have better knowledge and understanding of the history and lifestyle of Chiang Mai people!

A great intro to the history of Chiang Mai. Not the world biggest museum, but enough to give you a flavour of this provinces deep history and growth.

Pretty cool little museum to learn about the history of Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas. They've done well with the displays including several maps and models showing various things but as other reviewers mentioned there's a lot of words to read which can be a bit tedious.

Very nice & informative museum. The exhibitions are very well done. The entry fee is reasonable.

Extremely well done exhibition about Chiang Mai’s history and present. A museum is not the first thing that comes to mind when visiting this area of Thailand but this very much worth an hour or two to visit.

Sadly this was not very interesting. A basic introduction to the history of the region and some small art installation. 90 baht entry fee.

Very interesting museum, thought not all that extensive. 90B entry. Recommended
