About This Route
This route will take you to the resort town of Hua Hin (หัวหิน), passing through Kaeng Krachan National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกระจาน) and along routes bordering the mountains of Myanmar. It is a long ride of over 250 km.
The starting point of the GPX is where Rama II merges with Phetkasem Road. From there, you will quickly leave the busy Phetkasem Road to follow an irrigation canal. You'll pass through rice fields with beautiful palm trees. If you miss riding on dirt roads, one side of the canal is unpaved and fun to ride.
You will eventually leave the canal and head towards Kaeng Krachan. Upon arriving in town, just before turning left toward the bridge, go straight through the checkpoint; this is the way to check out the reservoir. It is a cool spot for a few pictures.
Further into the village, I usually stop for coffee at Coastly. There are also a few restaurants offering views of the dam.
Let's continue deeper into the jungle and keep an eye out for hornbills flying by! You'll reach an entrance to Kaeng Krachan National Park; it is free and usually unmanned. From there, you will ride on a fun jungle road that was (unfortunately) recently paved in late 2025. Some sections still have dirt, but not much!
Once out of the woods, I like to have lunch at Cafe de Ray, a cute restaurant set up along a small river. You are now in the Pa La-U region, which is popular for its special variety of durian.
Head south to the village of Ban Pa Mak (บ้านป่าหมาก), which is a remote Karen village. There are two things to do there: check out the coffee shop and do the water crossing to reach the cafe (don't worry, there is a bridge too).
After Ban Pa Mak, head east toward Hua Hin. The GPX goes through the Pran Buri Reservoir (อ่างเก็บน้ำ), which features a ~15 km well-graded dirt road with great views. After that, it will be time to reach Hua Hin to finish the big riding day!
If you leave from Bangkok and plan to make all four stops, I recommend leaving around 7:00 AM; you should arrive in Hua Hin by 5:00 PM.
